Scottsdale Laser Hair Removal with Clarity II: What to Expect & Why It Works
The laser that actually works (without frying your skin)
If you’ve tried waxing, sugaring, shaving, or “at-home laser gadgets,” you already know the frustration: they’re messy, temporary, and often make your skin angry.
At The Bare Effect, we use Clarity II by Lutronic, one of the most advanced dual-wavelength lasers available. It’s powerful enough to target coarse hair and gentle enough for sensitive skin, making it one of the only true all-skin-type lasers, from fair to deep complexions.
That means less pain, fewer side effects, and faster results, even in Arizona’s year-round sun.
Why we chose Clarity II
1. Two wavelengths = precision on every skin tone.
Clarity II combines 755 nm (Alexandrite) and 1064 nm (Nd:YAG) wavelengths. This allows our team to tailor each pulse to your specific pigment and hair depth. No more “one-size-fits-all” settings.
2. Integrated cooling = less pain, more comfort.
Gone are the days of ice packs (though we have those handy too!). Clarity II uses a built-in cryogen cooling system that soothes the skin instantly after each pulse, meaning you’ll feel a cool mist instead of a burn.
3. Speed = shorter appointments.
The large spot size and quick repetition rate mean full legs or a back can be treated in 20 minutes instead of 45. Hallelujah! Nobody likes a dragged out laser session.
4. Proven results, even for hormonal growth.
Whether you’re fighting chin hair from PCOS, postpartum hormonal shifts, or just genetics, Clarity II’s dual wavelengths allow deeper follicle targeting that helps prevent regrowth long-term.
What to expect during treatment
Step 1 — Consultation.
We start by evaluating your skin tone, hair color, medical history, and hormonal factors to customize your plan. (You can book a consult by clicking our booking button)
Step 2 — Prep.
You’ll need to avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners for 7 days before treatment, and shave the area 24 hours before your appointment. Skip retinoids and exfoliating acids for 3–5 days.
Step 3 — Treatment.
You’ll feel a quick “snap” sensation followed by a cooling mist. Most clients describe it as mild discomfort, not pain. As the hair thins, treatments get easier and easier.
Step 4 — Aftercare.
Expect mild redness and occassionally folliculitis (bumps where the hair follicle is) for a few hours. Avoid hot showers, workouts, or active skincare for 24 hours. SPF 30+ daily is non-negotiable.
How many sessions you’ll need
Because the laser can only target follicles in the active growth phase, you’ll need a series of 6–8 sessions, spaced about 4–8 weeks apart.
Each area has its own rhythm and growth cycle. Underarms may clear faster, while facial or hormonal areas can require maintenance touch-ups.

Safe for every skin type
Older lasers often struggled with medium to dark skin tones, risking burns or pigment issues. Clarity II’s Nd:YAG wavelength penetrates deeper, safely bypassing surface pigment, making it one of the safest lasers for Fitzpatrick I–VI.
That’s especially important in Scottsdale, Arcadia, and Paradise Valley, where sun exposure is a way of life, no matter how much we protect our skin. Our settings are fully customizable, allowing us to adjust for tanned skin or recent travel.
Pre- and post-care that makes or breaks your results
We don’t just focus on the laser; your lifestyle affects your outcomes, too.
Before treatment:
Shave (not wax or tweeze) 24 hrs before
No tanning or spray tans for 1 week
Avoid actives: retinoids, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide
After treatment:
Use a gentle cleanser and barrier moisturizer
Skip workouts, saunas, and exfoliation for 24–48 hrs
Apply mineral SPF daily
Hydrate – inside and out
Nutrition & wellness support
Because hormones, thyroid function, and nutrition can influence hair regrowth, we often recommend:
Balancing blood sugar (reduces androgen spikes that trigger new hair growth)
Zinc and B-vitamins for follicle health
Omega-3 fatty acids for calmer, less inflamed skin
Our integrative approach means we can address both the external and internal factors behind unwanted hair.
Common FAQs
Is laser hair removal permanent?
It’s long-term reduction rather than absolute permanence. Most clients achieve 80–90% reduction with occasional maintenance.
Does it hurt?
Thanks to the cryogen cooling system, most people compare it to a light rubber-band snap on course, more dense areas, with even less sensation on areas with thinner, more fine hair..
Can I do it if I’m tan or have darker skin?
Yes. Clarity II is safe for all skin tones with proper settings. Note that lowering the settings to accommodate a tan may not clear the hair as quickly, but an extra treatment or two beats a burn.
What areas can be treated?
Virtually anywhere: face, underarms, bikini, legs, back, chest, and more.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
Yes. Many clients pair it with facials, microneedling or other laser treatments for texture and pigmentation correction.
